The product

What it is, what it is not, and where the phone fits.

7 questions

What is Salewise?

Salewise is a QR-first AI sales assistant for physical retail. A shopper scans a code beside a product and gets an answer on their own phone — in text or voice — grounded in the store's live catalogue. The sale still happens at the till.

Is there an app to download?

No. The QR code opens a web app in the phone's browser. There is nothing to install, no account required and no hardware in store. The phone carries the assistant.

Can shoppers buy on the phone?

No. Salewise does not take payments and does not store card data. The shopper decides on the phone and pays at the merchant's existing till, so the transaction stays inside the merchant's POS.

What can shoppers ask?

Product questions, comparisons, bundles, stock and variants, offers, fit and compatibility, care and warranty, and collection guidance — depending on what the catalogue and integrations expose. The merchant sets the point where the agent hands over to a person.

Which languages does it support?

29 languages are supported by the platform, and all 29 are enabled in this demo, with a language picker and right-to-left layout. When configured, spoken replies use a neural voice; the browser's device speech synthesis is the fallback. Voice input still depends on the browser, and text is always available.

Does voice work on every phone?

Voice input relies on the browser's speech-recognition support, which is strongest in Chromium-based browsers. Spoken replies use a server-side neural voice when the deployment has one configured, with device speech synthesis as the fallback. The interface always offers text, and we have not verified every iOS browser and voice combination.

Does it replace store staff?

No. It absorbs routine product questions so associates can take the high-value conversations. Handovers carry the full conversation across, and the merchant decides when a handover happens.

Grounded answers

How the catalogue stays the source of truth.

5 questions

How do you stop the agent inventing answers?

The server retrieves candidate products from the merchant's catalogue before the model runs. The model may only select from those candidates and phrase a response; the server validates every product ID and renders price, stock, variants and offers itself. If the catalogue does not contain an answer, the agent says so and offers a handover. We describe this as no hallucinations by design — a design approach, not a warranty that no model can ever err.

Which AI model do you use?

The agent calls a hosted large-language model through an OpenAI-compatible API. Model choice is server-side configuration and can change as providers improve. The model is not given the ability to set a price, confirm stock or invent a product ID.

What if the catalogue has no answer?

The agent admits it and offers a handover to staff. When the model is unavailable, the assistant reports that it cannot answer, and the shopper can try again or ask a colleague.

Does it learn from our conversations?

Conversation transcripts and structured intents are stored for merchant review in Sage. In the current product we do not train a shared model on one merchant's catalogue or conversations. Any future model training would be a separate, explicit agreement.

Can we see where an answer came from?

Yes. Recommendations are tied to catalogue item IDs, and the product cards show the product, price and stock rendered from the merchant's records. The merchant also sees the full transcript in the console.

Integration & setup

POS coverage, setup and what “supported” means.

5 questions

Which POS systems do you support?

Salewise is live natively. Shopify POS, Square, Epos Now and WooCommerce are in beta. A further 21 adapters are in the registry as coming soon, including Lightspeed, Zettle, Clover, SumUp, BigCommerce, Loyverse and others. The full status list is on the product page.

How long does it take to go live?

For a supported provider, same day once catalogue access and handover rules are in place. Beta providers and new adapters can take longer. The QR codes can be designed and printed while the integration syncs.

Do we need any hardware?

None. No tablets, kiosks, mounts or cabling. The shopper uses their own phone and the merchant prints QR cards.

Can we run multiple locations?

Yes. Sage lists every Salewise store linked to your account. Each store has its own catalogue, QR codes, conversations, usage and attribution. Multi-location rollouts and grouped reporting are agreed in the order form.

Our POS is not on the list. What then?

Tell us which system you use. New adapters are scoped against the provider's API and your catalogue. We will not claim an integration is available until it is built and tested.

Commercial

Price, commission and what counts as a location.

5 questions

How much does Salewise cost?

£79 per location per month, or £948 per location per year. There is no hardware to buy. The subscription is monthly, with no annual lock-in; the order form sets the commercial terms.

Is commission charged on attributed sales?

No. The subscription is the only fee. Attribution is measured so a merchant can audit the match between a conversation and a sale; it is not a revenue share and no commission rate is agreed with merchants.

What counts as a location?

A single trading site with its own catalogue context and QR codes — a shop, a kiosk or a counter. If your structure is unusual, we will agree the definition in the order form.

Are there setup or integration fees?

The list price is the subscription. Any custom integration engineering or unusual deployment work is scoped and agreed separately, before it starts.

How does attribution actually work?

A redemption code or loyalty sign-in gives a deterministic match — the sale is attributed outright. Without one, the system looks for same-store basket overlap within a time window and reports it as modelled, with a confidence score. Modelled matches are labelled in reporting, never presented as fact.

Privacy & security

Data, retention and the certifications we do not hold.

5 questions

What shopper data do you collect?

A session ID, the QR code and aisle that started it, the questions and answers, recommendations and handoff events. No card data and no payment credentials. The demo does not link a session to a named shopper.

Where is the data hosted?

The reference deployment target is Google Cloud — Cloud Run for services, Cloud SQL or Cloud Spanner for data, Secret Manager for secrets. Model inference runs through a hosted model API. Sub-processors and transfer terms are set out in the DPA.

Do you sell personal data?

No. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising profiles on shoppers.

Are you SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?

Not today. We describe the controls we have built on the security page and we do not claim certifications we do not hold.

Can merchant or shopper data be deleted?

Yes. Deletion and retention are handled under the data processing agreement. Contact support@salewise.co.uk and we will confirm the scope and timing in writing.

The demo

What the seeded catalogue can and cannot show you.

4 questions

What am I scanning on this site?

A real QR code that opens the Salewise shopper demo in your browser. The catalogue is seeded with five demo stores, so the products are illustrative rather than a live merchant's stock.

Why does the demo answer differently from my store?

The demo uses a seeded catalogue. A production store syncs the merchant's live catalogue, inventory and policies, and the agent answers from those records.

Why does voice not work in my browser?

Speech input is a browser capability. Chromium-based browsers on desktop and Android have the broadest support; some iOS configurations do not. Spoken replies use a neural voice when the deployment has one configured, with device speech synthesis as the fallback. Text always works.

Can I try it with my own catalogue?

That is what onboarding is for. Connect a supported POS or talk to us about your catalogue and we will scope a store. Start with the contact form or email support@salewise.co.uk.

Security questionnaires, unusual POS systems, pharmacy handover rules, multi-site rollout — all fair.
